YUME Safety Tips
YUME Safety Tips
Riding smart is the best way to ensure you have a good time with your fave scooter while also staying safe. Anytime you want to ride your scooter, the rule of thumb is to apply the appropriate precautions.
Be sure to read the following safety tips and take them to heart to avoid any auto mishap that could make you sustain injuries. Follow the “YUME Rules,” and you’ll always ride smart and have a great time.
Who Should Ride a YUME Scooter?
The YUME product should not be ridden by anyone below the recommended age (18 years old). It is also recommended that you already have at least six months of two-wheel cycling experience before riding without guidance.
Getting Geared Up
Endeavor to always wear a helmet that meets the riders’ regulatory standards. Elbow and kneepads are also highly recommended. Remember to wear athletic shoes or lace-up shoes with rubber soles. Also, make sure to neatly tie the shoelaces to keep them out of the wheels’ way. Please don’t ever go riding without gearing up appropriately; it’s for your safety.
Follow Traffic Laws
1. Always yield to pedestrians for their safety and yours.
2. Ride on the appropriate driving side per time.
3. Make the appropriate signal when you’re planning to change directions.
4. Always follow the traffic light signals.
5. Finally, endeavor to be aware of the local driving laws that pertain to you.
Getting Your YUME Ready
Please make sure to read the owner’s manual attached to your scooter’s package before you begin using it. And before every ride, endeavor to secure your fasteners. Also, check your wheels for possible wear and tear. Remember to repair or replace worn-out or broken parts before continuing usage. And, of course, keep your product clean by wiping it with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust. More instructions about how to use your YUME scooter and care for it appropriately are found in the owner’s manual.
Start Slow
Yeah, we know you wanna start feeling the high rush of riding your new scooter, but it’s better to start slow. Gradually understand the feel of your new ride before you start riding super-fast. Also, learn how tight a turn you can comfortably make and practice applying the brake at various speeds in an open area before going for the complexities. Remember that you’d need a little while to adjust to using your new scooter.
Watch the Terrain and Always
be at Alert When riding, carefully maneuver around water, speed bumps, sand, gravel, and anything that could cause your front wheel to stop. Even a modest bump on the sidewalk can stop the front wheel and cause a terrible fall if you aren’t. It’s better to ride with caution around obstacles than to take a huge fall, right?
Meanwhile, be mindful of large vehicles making wide right turns. Also avoid riding in other vehicles’ blind spots, and always stay focused and alert. Make sure to be aware of your surroundings and never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Apply “Extreme” Caution
With practice, you’ll get increasingly more comfortable on your ride. But, no matter how long you’ve been riding, you should always apply caution. Avoid steep inclines and don’t ride too fast – you can lose control and fall. Never ride in traffic and watch your surroundings for pedestrians, bikers, boarders, and skaters.
You might see people on TV or even people you know doing tricks and stunts, but you shouldn’t try something until you’re absolutely sure you are ready. Remember, ride smart and stay safe.
Park Responsibly Finished riding? Be aware of “no parking” areas and only park within the appropriate or specified parking area. Make sure you look out for others and never leave your scooter blocking walkways or accessibility ramps.
